One of the most powerful features of the Pasco Science WorkshopTM lab interface is the ability to specify calculations to be automatically performed on the sensor data. Here are the basics:

 

The Calculator Window

The Calculator Window shown above displays a simple calculation for a velocity. "0.022" represents the length of a solid object that is passing through a photogate. It was either typed from the keyboard or entered via the Calculator Window keypad. The "@1.tGate" was selected from the <INPUT> menu. The "@" signifies sensor data in the Science WorkshopTM program. The "1.tGate" means that it is the time for the photogate connected to input channel 1. Therefore, this calculation is just a distance divided by a time.
