Creating a New Rope Constraint

How-To Notes -> this page
To create a new rope or bar constraint in Interactive Physics:
- Select the rope ()
or bar ()
icon from the tool bar. The main differences are:
- The rope will bend, but the bar is rigid.
- The program can make calculations for the bar much faster
than for the rope, so the bar is a better choice if flexibility
isn't needed.
- To place the object:
- click the mouse on an object to attach one end of the
rope/bar to it, then
- drag the mouse to where you wish to attach the other end,
and release.
Tips:
- An end of the rope or bar is attached to an object at the
point you click the mouse. If you click on the simulation
background, the rope or bar is attached to the background at that
point.
- You can change the size of the rope/bar at any time by
selecting it with the mouse and dragging one of the
sizing-boxes.
- You
can change the length of the bar or rope by dragging it with the
mouse, or make precise adjustments using the Properties
Window.
- You can also change the elasticity of a rope using the
Properties Window.
- If you are creating multiple objects of the same type, you can
double-click on the object icon and create them all without
returning to the tool bar for each one.
