To
change the graph setup options, click the graph setup icon
(
).
Alternatiively, you can click in the Graph Window, and select "Set Up
Active Display" from the Display Menu.
The
Graph Setup dialog will open: The options are:
- Name: You can type a new name for the graph, if you
choose.
- Data Points: If this is not checked, data points won't
be displayed. Is there a good reason to do that? If you don't show
the data points, you must select "Connected Points" or "Bar Graph"
to have anything displayed in the Graph Window.
- Connected Points: This is a "connect the dots" style
graph. You will probably want to uncheck this one, for just about
all physics graphs.
- Bar Graph: Displays the data as a bar graph - not
generally useful for physics experiments.
- Grid: Show/hide the graph paper background.
- Point Protectors: Graphic elements that draw attention
to the location of data points, which can sometimes be hard to
see. Personal preference, here.
- Integral Histogram: This is used in conjunction with
the Bar Graph.
- Auto-Scale During Sampling: If this option is checked,
the graph will automatically rescale itself if a data point would
fall outside of the current graph.
- Auto-Scale Time Axis: If this option is checked, the
graph will automatically rescale itself if the time for a data
point falls outside the current horizontal graph range.
- Error Bars: You can choose either horizontal or
vertical error bars (or both). If the "%" box is checked, then the
value in the "+/-" field is interpreted as a relative
uncertainty, otherwise it is interpreted as an absolute
uncertainty.
