Science and AntiScience

[Chapter 1 Objectives]

BHS -> Mr. Stanbrough -> Physics -> About Science -> this page

There has always been a segment of our society that mistrusts, even fears, science and technology. In the past decade or so, a philosophical anti-science movement has arisen that has been very vociferous. I'm somewhat prejudiced to present their argument (see "Straw Man Argument") but their position seems to be that science's claim to be getting closer and closer to an understanding of Nature is false. To them, science is just a belief system no better than any other. I'm not equipped to argue philosophy, but it seems to me that no other "belief system" has had an impact anywhere near the impact that science has had on society over the last 400 years.

You need to make up your own mind on this issue.
