Images in a Convex Mirror

Diverging Images Animation

The ray diagram below shows the image produced by an object in front of a convex mirror. Note that the light rays diverge in front of the mirror, and must be extended back to find the image. The image is virtual, right-side up, smaller than the object, and located between the mirror and the (virtual) focus.

Equations can also be developed that can be used to predict the appearance of images produced by convex mirrors, but, to avoid compllications, we will use ray diagrams only to locate images in convex mirrors.
