You might think that jumping from Chapter 1 to Chapter 29 in a textbook would cause a lot of confusion because you don't know what was in the 27 chapters in between, but in this case, there isn't much of a problem. All you need to remember is:

If the text says...

You should read...

wave
ray
frequency or wavelength
color

For instance, if the text has a sentence that starts

"The frequency of the light wave..."

you should think

"The color of the light ray..."
